A few European-wide surveys available for research purposes
ESS (European Social Survey)
The European Social Survey is an academic survey conducted every two years since 2001. It measures attitudes, beliefs and behaviour patterns in more than 30 nations. In France, the survey is conducted by Sciences Po.
SHARE (Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe)
SHARE is a multidisciplinary, cross-national, panel database of data on some 80,000 Europeans aged 50 and over. SHARE data is used to analyse socio-economic issues associated with ageing populations. In France, the SHARE survey is conducted by Paris Dauphine University.
Generations and Gender Program
GGP is a system of national survey. The main purpose of the programme is to improve the understanding of ongoing demographic and social changes, and the factors which influence them, with particular focus on the relationships between parents and children (generations) and between partners (gender).
EVS (European Values Study)
EVS is a survey on the values held by Europeans. It provides an insight into the ideas, beliefs, preferences, attitudes, values and opinions of citizens across Europe. It is a unique research project on what Europeans think about life, family, work, religion, politics and society.
EWCS (European Working Conditions Survey)
Since it was first conducted in 1990, the EWCS has provided regular insights into working conditions in Europe.
EU-LFS (Labour Force Survey)
This survey provides quarterly results on labour participation of people aged 15 and over, as well as on people outside the labour force.
EU-SILC (Survey on Income and Living Conditions)
The EU SILC is an instrument for collecting timely and comparable cross-sectional and longitudinal multidimensional microdata on income, poverty, social exclusion and living conditions in Europe.
